Making Aid Effective

DFID - aid effectiveness

There are a very large number of donors operating in Serbia, in spite of it being a middle income country.  Since 2001 DFID has supported the Serbian Government’s Development and Aid Coordination Unit (DACU). DACU’s main priority is to increase the effectiveness of foreign aid so that it contributes more directly to the Government‘s objectives on EU integration, poverty reduction and public sector reform.

Through this support the Government of Serbia (GoS) has significantly enhanced its overall managerial and operational capacity for the planning and management of external funds channelled to particular ministries. DFID’s current assistance to DACU is focused on providing support to the GoS to better plan and manage EU funds (that come to Serbia through the Instrument for Pre- Accession - IPA).
