Political section
Our political team promotes political links between the UK and Serbia. We do this through our network of contacts, explaining British policy to our Serbian counterparts, and Serbian policy to our colleagues and leaders in the UK. We help arrange visits in both directions to allow British and Serbian leaders and officials find out more about the issues of importance to each country.
We cover a wide range of issues, such as the internal political scene and Serbia's bilateral relations with other countries. The majority of our work is currently focused on Kosovo, ICTY, prospects for further Euro-Atlantic integration and post election Government building. Other areas include reporting the state of the Serbian economy, issues surrounding energy security and climate change, and work in support of upholding human and minority rights. The political section also has a major input into the Embassy's projects that support our work across all these areas. Our overall aim is to see Serbia move steadily towards European Union membership, while working towards there solution of both the war crimes and Kosovo status issues.
